Gillingham Care Home

The Client

Elements Europe worked in collaboration with Pickstock Construction to deliver a first class care facility on behalf of The Pickstock Group and the occupier European Care Group.

European Care Group is the sixth largest independent provider of health and social care in the United Kingdom. The Group provides care for over 4,000 service users from elderly to children and adults with special needs. The corporate focus is on the provision of independently accredited high-quality care and services based on the needs of the client.

Project Description: 75 Room Pods

The £5.8m project saw Elements Europe provide 75 Room Pods with en-suite bathrooms and associated amenities, constructed to the specific design requirements of the healthcare operator and the Care Quality Commissioners.

The scheme also delivered off-site manufactured linen rooms, stair cores and corridor cassettes that seamlessly integrated with the traditional construction methods being applied on-site by the main contractor.

Elements Europe implemented its off-site Room Pod building system to provide high-quality en-suite bedrooms tailored with modern safety features including, 24-hour nurse call system, thermostatic controls and smoke detectors. Rooms also featured modern comforts such as flat-screen televisions.

The Room Pod system has a structurally lightweight steel frame outer structure. Internally the room is fully decorated, carpeted with a full sanitary installation, mechanical and electrical and all fixed furniture and fittings. The system is fast to install reducing the project construction period providing the occupier with an earlier occupation date and developer with an expedited return on investment.
