Wood Wharf J1/J3, London

The first bathroom pods have arrived on site at Wood Wharf, a new build-to-rent (BTR) mixed-use development located in Canary Wharf, London. It is being developed by Canary Wharf Group, one of the leading real estate and property development companies in the UK, and designed by project architects GRID Architects.

Elements Europe have been awarded a £8.4 million contract to manufacture and deliver 1114 bathroom pods for plots J1 & J3 at this scheme.

Wood Wharf will include residential, commercial and retail spaces. The project aims to transform a previously underutilized area into a vibrant waterfront district, using innovative design and construction methods, including modular construction techniques.

Bathroom pods, provided by Elements Europe, are pre-fabricated units that are built off-site in controlled factory environment and then transported to the construction site for installation. They offer advantages such as faster construction times, improved quality control and reduced on-site labour & disruption.

Bathroom pods are a common construction solution used in various projects, including residential and commercial buildings.

When finished, the development will provide 760 apartments based in two residential towers of 34-story (J1) and 49-story (J3). The BTR apartments will be operated by CWG’s residential leasing arm, Vertus and will be aimed at an intermediate rental level.

Elements Europe have a number of large projects in the pipeline and offer clients performance certainty in today’s challenging economic conditions with the backing of leading global construction firm, GS Engineering & Construction (GS E&C). Based in the Midlands, Elements Europe is ideally placed for projects throughout the UK and has a number of pod production lines to cope with increasing demand generated by a dedication to quality over the last 17 years in business.

“We are thrilled to be involved in such a large and prestigious project with our bathroom pod solution that results in faster delivery of housing to the UK market. Clients including Canary Wharf Group are recognising the benefits of offsite construction in terms of time, cost, quality, safety and reduced carbon consumption with less waste and fewer deliveries to congested sites. Just as important in today’s economic environment is investment by the likes of Canary Wharf Group in using UK based manufacturers providing jobs and support to the wider UK economy, supporting the Governments Levelling Up agenda by committing to manufacture in the Midlands.” commented Kevin Arthur, Head of Sales for Elements Europe.
