St Mark Street, Lincoln

The Client

Elements Europe manufactured and installed 120 student Room Pods for a private investor client, providing high-quality student accommodation on St Mark Street, Lincoln, close to the University of Lincoln Campus and City Centre. The rooms will be rented out to both Undergraduate and Postgraduate students studying at the University.

Project Description: 120 Student Room Pods

The scheme was delivered by The Pickstock Group as a turn-key solution with Elements Europe’s Sister company JR Pickstock Ltd acting as the main contractor.

Alongside student en-suite bedrooms, the Room Pod system also provided studio apartments, common rooms, staircases, corridors and roof structure. An ancillary common room and launderette were also provided as part of the development to offer students all of the amenities they need under one roof.

The building was in a very constrained position, situated between two buildings closed in at three sides, making a challenging construction project.

Work on-site started in April 2013, an expedited construction programme was realised in time for the September 2013 intake. The project was completed in just 28 weeks which would not have been possible if traditional construction methods were used.

The University of Lincoln was founded in 1992 and has seen its students numbers rapidly increase from 2,000 to 11,000 students. This has resulted in a high demand for new good quality student accommodation.
