Elements Europe worked with developer GolDev Ltd to deliver 199 student Room Pods to the first phase of their student accommodation scheme on Oxford Road in Luton, Healthcare Development Services Limited were the projects main contractor.
Project Description: 199 Student Room Pods
Elements Europe manufactured en-suite cluster bedrooms with shared kitchens as well as Studio Room Pods. Studios offer students the privacy of a self-contained room with open plan sleeping, studying and kitchen area, studios also incorporate an en-suite bathroom.
All Room Pods were manufactured in 11 weeks and on-site delivery commenced early May 2014. The project will be completed by the September 2014 student intake.
The main contractor provided a steel frame structure onto which the off-site constructed modules were positioned, the building totals eleven storeys including the ground floor. When completed, the ground and first floor will incorporate a doctor’s surgery and pharmacy.
A Show Flat was also provided for the scheme, which was dressed with modern accessories to reflect student living.
The development is in an ideal location for students attending the University of Bedfordshire with a short walk to campus. The accommodation will be operated by CRM Ltd, the largest independent student accommodation company, managing over 19,000 beds across the UK.
