Launch of Apprenticeship Scheme
Elements Europe is preparing for a recruitment drive of apprentices.
The Human Resource Department has received over 200 applications for its apprenticeship programme at its production facility in Telford.
The apprenticeship scheme is a 1-2 year NVQ programme and covers all trades throughout the business including welders, painters, electricians, plumbers and tilers to name a few.
The HR department will whittle down the 200 plus applications to 100 and invite those to the production facility for an assessment day which will involve a team building exercise, as well as a tour of the facility and a small interview.
From the 100 that attend the day, 20 will be selected to enter onto the programme.
Michael Lloyd, HR Manager commented “The response has been phenomenal. Young people are really interested in the innovative nature of modular and the skills they can develop from this, it is certainly the future of construction and I think it is this that has driven applications”.
It has been noted in the industry that there is a skills gap in the construction industry in general. Elements Europe aims to continue to develop skills and knowledge in the modular construction industry and once apprenticeship schemes are completed aims to employ those on the scheme to a full time position in their areas of expertise.
Elements Europe’s aim is to have 5% of its work force either in training programmes or apprenticeship schemes in order to ensure ongoing development throughout the business.
