Ensure adequate handover with Head of HSEQ&C and contacts is maintained to cover planned absence

 

Quality         

Audit selected works during the manufacturing processes

Ensure scope of works is in line with drawings and processes

 

Cost

Prevention rather than cure.

Apply RCA (root cause analysis) to issue solving

 

Delivery

Audit programme closes out work packages.

Develop workflow to formalise ‘close out’

 

Communication 

Enter into direct dialogue at all levels within Manufacturing

Formalise links with Customers (internal and external)

 

Main tasks and responsibilities:

  • Provide a Clerk of Works or finishing Manager service across the full range of work undertaken within the manufacturing factory.
  • Agree joint quality control procedures with the Quality Assurance Manager in accordance with requirements and audit such procedures and records to ensure that quality assurance audits are effective and efficient.
  • Maintain a critical but constructive relationship with the supervisory staff.
  • Examine specifications and drawings and ensure that any aspects which are not satisfactory are rectified.
  • Prepare specifications and issue direct orders for various minor works and defects.
  • Liaise with visiting inspectors (e.g. Clients, etc).
  • Carry out duties to meet Health and Safety regulations.
  • Ensure excellent channels of communication exist with, staff and contractors to ensure issues are dealt with effectively and efficiently.
  • Undertake continuing professional development.
  • Such other minor and/or non-recurring duties, appropriate to the post as may be directed.
  • Autodesk ACC – utilise current system to process activity.

 

Required skills:

Skill Essential Desirable
Full membership of the Institute of Clerks of Works and Construction Inspectorate and/ or MCIO or relevant equivalent

Construction related HND or Degree (or equivalent)

NEBOSH (preferred) or IOSH qualified

Y

o

Previous experience as a Clerk of Works or Finishing Manager in Finishing on construction projects

Experience in managing the quality of construction projects.

Demonstrable experience and knowledge of building construction and design, from inception to completion.

o

Demonstrable experience and knowledge of Mechanical, Electrical and Plumbing (MEP) from inception to completion.

o

Ability to effectively communicate both verbally and in writing with other colleagues, technical and non-technical working parties, external clients and agencies, contractors, and consultants.

o

Thorough knowledge of building legislation, building construction and the Building Regulations.

Y

o

Ability to draft technical reports.

Y

o

Qualified internal or lead auditor for ISO9001

o

Y

Qualified internal or lead auditor for ISO 14001 and OHSAS 45001

Familiar with ISO9001:2015 Quality Management Standards, OHSAS 18001, Health & Safety Management, and ISO 14001:2004 Environmental Management

Lean Manufacturing Experience

5S implementation Experience

Understanding of technical drawings and specifications

Ability to collaborate with Technicians, Engineers and production staff to facilitate improvements, including activities to improve right first time.
