Viking House, Lincoln – Phase 1 & Phase 2

The Client

Elements Europe has worked alongside joint venture partners Richardson and Jackson & Jackson Developments to manufacture and deliver bathroom pods to a student accommodation scheme in Lincoln.

Project Description: 158 Bathroom Pods (Phase 1) 332 Bathroom Pods (Phase 2)

Elements Europe has manufactured and delivered a total of 490 bathroom pods in two phases to this student accommodation scheme in Lincoln.

In phase one, the client approached Elements Europe with a very short lead time. Elements Europe’s teams worked closely with the client and the University of Lincoln to execute the project in the short time period provided.

This project proved that offsite construction methodologies can be relevant to refurbishment projects as well as new build developments. Developers striped the façade back on this concrete frame building to allow for the bathroom pods to be installed by a telescopic forklift truck.

Prior to manufacture commencing Elements Europe produced just the frame of the pod to test that it would fit within the concrete frame due to very tight onsite tolerances, once this was tested successfully manufacturing commenced.

Manufacturing of all 158 pods took just 6 weeks. To ensure the deadline was met, bathroom pods were manufactured and delivered simultaneously in a “just in time fashion,” meeting the client’s deadline and expectations.

A couple of months later the client approached Elements Europe again to provide a further 332 bathroom pods for phase two, a new build which sits adjacent to the phase one building.
